Frequently Asked Questions

How can Better Coverage Consultants save me money on health insurance?

We have access to private health plans that most brokers don't know exist. For small businesses and entrepreneurs, we can often reduce premiums by up to 50% compared to marketplace alternatives, with plans that are fully tax deductible and offer national PPO coverage.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. We always offer a free, no-obligation quote on any insurance coverage option you are interested in.

Do I need to come to your office to get a quote?

No. You don't need to visit our office to get a quote. If you wish to come by, please schedule a visit or a call so we can discuss your needs and make sure the quote you receive fits them.

What types of insurance do you offer?

We offer Individual, Group, and Ancillary health insurance coverage. Schedule a free call or meeting, and we will happily discuss our coverage options to ensure they meet your needs.

Do you only handle health insurance?

No. Our primary focus is health insurance, but we also help clients with ancillary coverage that works alongside their primary plan, including dental, vision, life insurance, accident coverage, and short-term disability protection.

Can you help me if I'm self-employed or a freelancer?

Yes, absolutely. This is one of our core specialties. Self-employed individuals and freelancers face unique challenges finding affordable coverage without an employer to subsidize costs. We specialize in identifying plans that maximize your tax benefits and provide the coverage you need while saving you up to 50% on your premiums when compared with marketplace alternatives.

What type of coverage is best for self-employed individuals?

The best coverage depends on you. Everyone has different needs at different stages of their life, and factors such as budget and marital status can also influence your decision. One of our knowledgeable agents can help explain the differences between your coverage options and help you make an informed decision.

What tax benefits are associated with health insurance for the self-employed?

Self-employed individuals can deduct 100% of their private health insurance premiums from their taxable income through the use of HRAs (health reimbursement arrangements). These options are not available through marketplace plans. Additionally, none of our private plans are based on income, so there is no concern about subsidy repayment. We will walk you through what applies to your situation.

What is the difference between ACA marketplace plans and private plans?

ACA (Affordable Care Act) marketplace plans offer subsidies based on your income and include required EHBs (Essential Health Benefits). Private plans, available outside the marketplace, may not offer EHBs, but you may not need all of those benefits and can save money by customizing your plan. For example, if you are a single male, you probably don't need maternity benefits, but you have to pay for them on an ACA plan. We evaluate both options to find what's best for your specific health and coverage needs.
What if I need coverage for my entire family?

We offer individual and family health insurance plans tailored to households of all sizes. We will account for everyone who needs coverage and find options that balance cost and benefits across your whole family. Our goal is to make sure everyone's needs are met and that you understand exactly what you're paying for, including what's covered and what's not.
